Now the news is all about City Harvest.. Most attacking the church even when no verdict is made yet. Some even taunting City Harvest Members to defend for themselves. They wanna hear what do we have to say.
Personally, i've got nothing much to say to the public or even enter into a debate with anyone about this. Persecute all you want, cos apparently it makes you happy. So be it.
However, i feel inclined to speak a certain point of view, in this case, mine. People often, and mind you, they really do very often, mistaken that City Harvest members are crazy, too spiritual, brain-washed, etc, etc.. And i'm not saying they are totally wrong, there are members who are too spiritual. But their mistake comes when they assume ALL City Harvest members are like that.
One cannot avoid feeling a sense of injustice when such assumptions are made. Just like how Singaporeans would respond likewise if one was to say, all singaporeans speak poor english in the form of singlish. Yes, trust me, singaporeans will proudly protest in our perfect english, " our english where got lousy huh!"
Yes, humans are after all quite daft. That's what makes us human. Hence the terms human errors. No one is perfect, everyone is expected to make errors. But some are just criticize more than others, in this case, i refer to my church, City Harvest. I can honestly tell you that if we listened to every single thing that the public has to say, we will not be where we are today.
Everyone has a different opinion of how things work. Who's to say which way is the absoulute right or wrong except God. Obviously we have clear definitions of right and wrong like no murder, no stealing and stuff. But at this moment in time, City Harvest is in a probe, not in a crime syndicate. And may i add, that touchwood, if ever Pastor Kong or any other Pastor may have mishandled money, i do not endorse their act. I don't feel proud and say, i still support my Pastor no matter what.
Cos i am not "brain-washed" like what the public has termed. I will not agree with their actions, and i would feel rightfully that they step down, but at the same time, i would be eternal grateful for the good things they done and I won't forever condemn them but forget the bad. It's called forgive, which the world lacks today.
As a member i know of the good things they have done. They have done things that people have only have the decency to talk about. Haiti relief, Tsunami relief, elderly care, cancer patients, jailbirds, etc, etc.. Yes we all heard the public speak before. The same ones that persecute us, talk about wanting to help Haiti, or jailbirds, etc. "Oh, how i wish my boss would allow me to go to Haiti to help the relief work." While they are sharing to the whole world how they wish they could be on the plane to help Haiti, City Harvest members actually were at Haiti to help.
I guess i should stop here.. Cos i know i'm not perfect either, so i shouldn't expect people to be either.
On a lighter note, World Cup starts this friday! WOO! Can't wait for it to start.
England for the win!
