This week happening siol..
Let me start with the medical review.. Went to MMI on wed morning to see the specialist.. I cant explain this but i was nervous.. I know it was a make or break situation for me.. The thing is that i needed to PES down.. Or get a long term status.. Anything else other than that would be terrible news to me..
You see, army likes to play the role of the barstard.. They love to be the bad guy.. You know every time bad guys like to say " if you do not do this, you will suffer the consequences".. They are like the bully who pushes you to a corner and ask you to surrender your lunch money or suffer a beating.. That's really how they work..
Like my current situation now.. My battery is urging us to clear our off and leave as we will accumulate more offs when we take part in NDP this year.. So they are afraid we cannot clear.. So a logical choice of off clearing would be on a Mon or Fri.. Cos long weekend.. No one would take on Tue and Thurs for e.g.. Cos you have to book in book out.. Which is purely stupid..
But the thing about soldiers is, you must be fit.. You must clear IPPT and SOC.. So right now, Mons, Weds and Fris are training days for the test.. So if you take off on mon and fri, you would skip training, which is a good thing.. But no, army dun want to let you have it your way.. MUST insist you.. Haven clear IPPT and SOC and want to take off on mon or fri sumore?? Nvm.. CAN!! You come for training then go for off.. Plus we wont compensate your time you come back for training.. SWEE??
Let me give an e.g of how it will turn out.. For e.g i take off on mon.. Means i still must book in on sunday night.. Mon morning go for prob 1.5 hrs of training.. Book out straight after that, which is prob around 9plus.. Then if i wanna go home, take a 2hrs trip back.. And in the evening, make another 2 hrs trip back to camp to book in.. SMLJ!!! From a 24hr off, it became a 9 hr off instead, minus the time you in camp sleeping, training time and travelling time.. Who the hell want to clear off liddat you tell me?? Really SMLJ..
So my choice is simple, clear IPPT, SOC or down PES.. And now 2nd year soldier liao.. ORD coming, where got mood go train.. Of cos take the easy way out.. Down PES..
As i was taking my temperature before entering the building, i didnt know i was trembling already.. When i wrote down my particulars, i could feel my hands trembling.. I tot it was just nothing.. But as i was waiting for my turn, CMI.. Can feel my heart beating so hard that my body trembles from the beating.. And my hands are trembling as well.. My palms were sweaty.. Haha.. I was really like WTH.. Why liddat..
When it was my turn, can really feel the nerves already.. Make or break.. The doc asked me if my leg still pain?? I keng-ed and said, yea, still pain.. He told me he went through my report, and there was a stress injury at my foot, not a fracture fortunately.. And it would recover eventually.. Not the best of news for my ears.. But as he told me not to run, jog already, instead go swimming n cycling instead, he wrote down these 4 precious alphanumericals.. C9L2.. WOOO!!! Down PES!! KAN SONG!!
I am now the envy of my battery.. It's not easy to get and plus i get at the best timing possible.. Going to ORD, hope they wont post me out.. WOO!!

Sorry, came across your post by chance.
How did you get a down PES? Arranging for an MMI review, all these stuffs.
I just finished my BMT, and I'm willing to go for any unit except for Commando or GUARDs, and they just have to put me in GUARDs. Yes, I did pass my SOC but it was because of SOC that I got a rather severe hip and knee/ankle injuries. Besides, after several months of swimming lessons in PTP/BMT phases, I'm aware myself that I will never be able to learn swimming and a fucking 2km coastal swim is part of the GUARDs requirement.
My friend suggested that I get into the unit, then go and look for the MO. Do you think I should do that?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for pulling this old post out.
You need a referral letter from the MO. He needs to believe that your condition is beyond him to diagnose. Either you insist that pain is present when he cant find out why, or you really have an injury, thankfully i really had an injury..
But you can fool the MO but you cant fool the specialist. So since you said you have some injuries, just insist that it is causing you pain when you exercise, and I'm sure the specialist scans will show some injury. Hopefully it's serious enough to get you down PES thou, if not, tough luck..
hi, came across this post by chance as well
are there any people in your battery that has ooc-ed due to medical reasons? if so, where were they reassigned to? and did they ever had to come back for recourse?
asking for a friend of mine ;)
hi, also came across this post by chance, not sure whether you're still active or not but just asking:
has anyone from your battery ooc-ed due to medical injury before? if so, did they continue to stay in the battery or get posted out (eg to arty HQ?). and did anyone had to come back for recourse?
asking for a friend ;)
Yes, definitely have people that OOC. Depends on luck and the extent of injury, some people posted to HQ Battery while I know of some that got posted to be signaller.
Once OOC, I did not witness any1 had recourse before.
Anyway, my down PES was way after going through training. So even then, the posting will also be different. Some went to HQ Battery be clerk, but for me unfortunately, i stayed in battery line be sai gang warrior as they say S1 had too many clerks.
Hello, can across your blog and kinda in the same situation as you... I’ve recently injure myself in army and also on the foot (stress injury/chronic strain). Hence, would like to know whats your injury that allowed you to down pes.. and was it permanent? ☺️ thank u!!
According to the specialist, it was a stress injury. So I did down PES after the review with the specialist and it lasted all the way until i finished my 2 years.
I don't think there is a permanent down PES as you will be subject to medical review again before your reservist. I was called back for that and I know of one more friend who was also PES C that had to go back for medical review also.
